2027 Seatweavers Guild annual gathering
Brookville, IN
Information from our 2027 Coordinator, Morgan Schuler
The event will take place on October 9-10 of 2027 at Third Place Brookville, with check in taking place October 8th in the afternoon/evening at the Cobblestone hotel in Brookville, IN. Please follow this post if you intend to come or think you might want to. I will add details in comments along the way.
The price of the gathering is $150 per person for food, classes, etc at Third Place in Brookville.
If additional people come to just eat and not attend any classes there can be pricing for that separately too. Still working all the details out, just trying to get this information out asap. This is the price for the event only, not lodging. Details for lodging are in the next paragraph.
Lodging:
The Cobblestone - Brookville, IN - $99 per room per night for the guild members. If people want to share a room that is great! For 2 nights and the guild fee it’ll be $350ish total plus travel.
Make sure you call the number posted here and mention TSWG for the room rate. 765-647-4434. I can guarantee this rate for a while but I am not sure if it’ll be guaranteed for the entire year. I also encourage everyone to book as soon as you can in case rooms fill up. There is a hotel in Harrison, OH which is around 20 minutes away, and there is one in Batesville, IN which is 35 or so minutes away. It would be best if we could all be in the same area if possible. I also do not have any special pricing or guarantees at those hotels. There are 16 rooms blocked in Brookville and I cannot guarantee anything outside of those 16. They are blocked for Oct 8th and Oct 9th of 2027, and she automatically blocks a day before and after in case people want to come before or stay an additional day. Please reach out to me if you have any questions. 765-265-8652. Text or call. DO NOT CLICK ON THE FIRST FEW LINKS IF YOU SEARCH THE HOTEL. YOU’LL BOOK THROUGH A 3RD PARTY AND PAY WAY MORE THAN YOU SHOULD.

They have breakfast available at the hotel in the morning, or you can find Nixies on Main Street, who also serves breakfast.

There are some bed and breakfast type places in Brookville but I do not know the details for them, so cannot say one way or the other about staying at those.
Additional Lodging:
Camping - Franklin County Fairgrounds. Full hook ups available for campers and RV. It is a very nice place. I do not know pricing or availability.

*Brick oven pizza, etc.
We will have three floors available to use. The first floor is where food is generally served and there is also a bar area. Further past that is where the meeting hall is with enough space to seat everyone and have stations set up for demonstrations. The upper floor has available space for the same purpose as the first floor to break things up a bit. The basement level has a huge table where we could have meals all at one table. There isn’t any meeting space on the basement level, as that is where the kitchen is.
Other places to eat in Brookville:
*Dairy Cottage (Fried chicken, hoagies, burgers, etc.) - *This place is my favorite, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be yours.
*LaCa LaCa (Mexican) - *My preferred Mexican joint nowadays.
*El Reparo (Mexican) - *Good food, just personal preference for me going to the other one now.
*Nixies (Breakfast, Burgers, etc.)
*Big Boys Pizza
*Pizza Pete
*Skyline Chili - *Skyline is always good.
*Arby's
*McDonalds
*Coffee On Main (Closed on Mondays, which is odd)
*The Daily Scoop (Handmade ice cream)
Things to do in the immediate area:
Brookville is a tourist town, I just never take advantage of it since I live there and see it all the time. I recommend a nice walk down main street to feel the vibe of the town, but there are plenty of things to see and do and plenty of places to walk that aren’t paved. There is a nice little area “park” next to the ice cream shop near the middle of town which is a nice place to sit and relax. The actual town park down along the spillway is very nice and has a 1 mile paved (and one optional section that is not paved) walking trail that I enjoy walking on. They have shelters, volleyball, and disc golf. Also, near the park is a pickleball court that was recently put in and is very nice.
There is a lot of History tucked away in the area as well. Brookville flooded in 1913 and water reached at least the second floor of homes in the valley. Because of the flooding that kept happening, the Army Corps of Engineers completed the Brookville Dam in 1974 to reduce the water flow through the valley. It is said that there are still remnants of buildings under the Brookville lake that were there from the town of Fairfield, which once stood where the lake is now.
You can go up to the top of the dam and look North to see the gorgeous view of the lake, or continue up 101 to the Overlook for an even better view of it. I like to do both. At the bottom of the dam is the spillway, which is neat to walk down to and see. There is a sidewalk down to it, so it’s not a hard walk. All entrances are probably a half mile from each other on the same road.
If you want to stay an extra day or two, and if you are up for hiking there are many trails around Brookville lake but I haven’t hiked them in many years so I don’t know a lot of details about them. I’d definitely recommend a walk down the Whitewater Canal Trail, which extends from the Brookville area all the way to Laurel, IN, with Metamora in between.
That brings me to Metamora. It is a nice little town to go visit, but more so on the weekends. It’s kind of a dead town during the week, but still neat to see the aqueduct and the town itself. Perhaps that is something to plan to do on Friday before or after check in.
Indiana is also known for covered bridges. There are some in the area within half an hour or so, and I will try to have information available about those in case anyone is interested in going on a personal tour of them. The Franklin County Welcome Center on main street (directly next to The Daily Scoop) has all the information you should need on things to do in the area, and I will include the website here.
