@Mical Wilmoth & Larry Carton I do have the Caners Handbook as well as The Widess Complete Guide to Chair Caning. I do not have separation between the holes but I will put in a few screws to strengthen the chair as wood is missing in several ajacent holes. Will also try some wood putty. I believe I did meet you at the Wisconsin gathering in 2012. I originally joined and attended the 5th Annual Gathering as I had stumbled upon the website when I had a caning question. I was so surprised and delighted to find people that were willing and wanted to share their expertise that I joined and have kept up my membership. I am so pleased that the sharing is still alive and well. (and prompt) My wife's Alzheimers keeps me from attending gatherings at this time. Don't have much of an excuse for missing any meetings prior to 2018. I had a great time in 2012 and hope to attend again in the future. Jim Randall

Thank you. I wouldn't have thought of that. I do have some areas in the back where the areas between holes are solid and I could start and end the binder cane there. Should I. try to put a filler between the holes (and if so any suggestions) or just work with what is there. I guess I am asking for repair / stabiliztions suggestions.
