Caning Guild Members Make News

Students put their lesson into action as they work on chairs during class at Lions Park in Cuyahoga Falls. (Paul Tople/Akron Beacon Journal)

Our very own founding members of The SeatWeaver’s Guild, Jan Noall, Sally Jackson and Lee Long were featured in the Akron Beacon Journal newspaper article on May 14, 2010 about their chair caning classes!

The article highlights the trio’s weekly volunteer chair caning classes they hold at the Lion’s Lodge in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. For many years now these women have dedicated their time, efforts and knowledge to perpetuating the craft of chair seat weaving, teaching anyone in the area that wants to learn how to weave.

Congrats on the write-up on your fine contribution to the chair caning community and for helping to preserve this nearly lost art/craft form!

P.S. When you read this article be sure to also look at all the excellent pictures!
